Hive CPQ supports a wide range of pricing models. Choose the one that fits your product and market, or combine several for maximum flexibility.

  • Option-based pricing, based on the options selected during configuration.
  • Attribute-based pricing, according to product attributes like size, color, or material – ideal for technical products with custom variations.
  • Bill of Materials pricing calculates the total price based on all components used in the configuration.
  • Grid-based pricing determines prices based on two variables, such as width × height.
  • Cost-plus pricing for prices based on your product cost with an added margin
  • Volume pricing, which adjusts your price per unit based on the quantities.
  • Price book or list pricing, for fixed prices per region, market, customer type, or product group.
  • Custom pricing allows you to define your own specific pricing calculations and formulas.

Customized pricing models?

We’re here to help.

For kitchen appliance manufacturer Arpa, we combined several pricing models into one seamless setup: cost-based pricing, volume pricing (tiered pricing), and customer-specific pricing. Their Bill of Materials defines both the cost price and purchase price for each component. On top of that, they work with temporary discounts that expire on a specific date – all fully managed in Hive CPQ.

For a pergola manufacturer we calculate dealer-specific discounts through a points-based system. Each product is assigned a number of points, which are then converted to euros using a dealer-specific rate. That way, each dealer sees the right price, while the manufacturer keeps control over discount logic across its different types of dealers.

Frequently asked questions.

Is the pricing logic handled in Hive CPQ or in my ERP system?

The base price typically comes from your ERP. From there, you have two options: if pricing and discounts are synced to Hive CPQ, prices are updated in real time, recalculated instantly with every change in the configuration.

Alternatively, you can keep your discount and pricing calculations in your ERP or any other external tool. In that case, Hive CPQ will retrieve the final price once the configuration is complete.

We work with cost-based pricing. Does Hive CPQ support that?

Absolutely. Cost-based pricing or cost-plus pricing – where a margin is added to the base cost of your product – is one of the many pricing models Hive CPQ supports.

Is it possible to give certain users more flexibility in applying discounts than others?

Yes. Hive CPQ’s advanced permission system lets you define who can apply which discounts. For example, sales managers can be given different discount rights than sales reps. Using the discount overview feature, you can always generate a full overview of all applied discounts across user levels.

Does Hive CPQ support pricing in multiple currencies or regions?

Yes, Hive CPQ supports multi-currency pricing and allows you to define different price lists by region, customer type, or market segment.

Can I show both list prices and discounts in the quote?

Yes, you can decide whether discounts appear in the configurator or in the final quote.

Can I combine different pricing models?

Yes, Hive CPQ allows you to mix multiple pricing models within one configuration – for example, combining option-based pricing with volume discounts or a Bill of Materials structure.
