Kontent Structures is the European specialist in temporary and (semi-)permanent tent structures. The Dutch company supplies a wide range of customized solutions for a variety of applications. Their product range includes aluminum halls, storage tents, pagoda tents, luxury tents, and tent floors – all designed with flexibility, durability and functionality in mind.

Kontent Structures’ tents are used at large-scale event locations like Rock Werchter, as well as in industrial settings such as temporary storage spaces or on construction sites. With in-house production based in the Netherlands, every structure is fully customized to meet specific needs. The company prioritizes safety and quality: all employees are certified and work in a safe, responsible, and environmentally conscious manner.

The challenge: visually appealing and configurable quotes.

Kontent Structures experienced strong growth in recent years, both in terms of volume and diversity of projects. The variety of options and customization made the sales process increasingly complex. Additionally, customers not only want a quick quote, but also an immediate clear picture of what they can expect. The company therefore started working with the configurator within their new ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management.

This solution accelerated the sales process, but the configurator itself fell short. It lacked visual appeal, was not adaptable across multiple channels, and had limited functionality. However, in Kontent Structures’ market, visual communication and flexibility are essential.

The solution: Hive CPQ with 3D visualization.

Kontent Structures teamed up with their partner Conclusion to find the right solution, and found it in Hive CPQ. With its powerful 3D visualization capabilities, the sales team can now generate dynamic, visually compelling quotes using their own templates, complete with accurate dimensions and calculations. Key features include:

• Fully configurable tent structures in 3D
• Automatically generated dimensions and measurement lines
• Customizable options for colors, materials, doors, windows, and accessories
• A dynamic parts list (or Bill of Materials)
• Technical documentation and installation instructions, generated from a single platform

This approach combines the technical precision required by Kontent Structures with a compelling visual presentation, enabling the team to better inform and convince customers. The result is a more professional quoting process, with fewer errors and significantly faster turnaround times.

Equally important was seamless integration with their existing ERP system. Using the Hive CPQ connector for Microsoft Dynamics Finance & Supply Chain Management, Kontent Structures can manage all data centrally, with the CPQ platform automatically reflecting any updates.

An additional advantage is the ability to include commercial goods alongside tent structures in a single quote. These can be either standard or configurable items, such as windows with adjustable dimensions. In the sales module, all items are grouped at the project level, ensuring maximum flexibility throughout the quotation process.

The implementation process: A tailor-made collaboration.

Kontent Structures worked together with the teams from Conclusion and Hive CPQ to launch their configurator project. Through targeted workshops, Conclusion and Kontent Structures got to work independently in the Hive Design Studio to set up their configurators. This gave the company maximum control.

Throughout the project, the Hive CPQ engineering team provided hands-on support and was readily available to answer questions as needed. The 3D models of the tent structures were developed using files supplied by Kontent Structures, ensuring technical accuracy and full alignment with the manufacturer’s expectations and vision.

The future: lead generation through the configurator.

Hive CPQ is currently being used internally by the sales team, but Kontent Structures is already looking ahead. It is the company’s goal to leverage the configurator as a lead generator on their website, so that potential customers can assemble their own tents and request quotes. Thanks to the modular structure and user-friendly management in Hive CPQ, that step is within reach.
